Okay, here is the bear! I know that it looks small...but sometimes photos do not do reality justice. At the time it felt close, scary, but also beautiful. To be honest, I just wanted to watch it and not scare it away.

Jakes foot (size 13) compared to the foot of the bear.
Aaawwwwwww that is RAWKIN!!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the "barefoot" bear footprint. WAY COOL!
Are you sure that wasn't Bigfoot? I fully agree with Christa, you have the best pictures. The pictures from Montana were awesome just as these from Alaska
ReplyDeleteThanks Jayleigh and Shakabuku!!
ReplyDeleteI am sure that it was a bear and not bigfoot...only because it was walking on all fours and not just two! ha!
amazing pic, anne.
ReplyDeleteit must have been a thrill.
I love these pictures, as always! You have traveled to some of the most beautiful places recently. What great experiences!
ReplyDeleteUh, I think the whole footprint picutre does justice to the first picture. Maybe it's a good thing that you didn't get closer.
ReplyDeleteLike the foot picture!!! I'd be so scared!
ReplyDeleteThose things eat people! Watch out!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is really cool - especially the photo of the bearprint! I used to go to camp in Wisconsin, and I came face-to-face with a big, black bear once. I froze! And then ran away screaming!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! It was so exciting when we saw it...because the whole hike up the mountain I kept telling Jake and Ben, "I just want to see a bear!!"
ReplyDeleteAnd all they kept saying was exactly what Ari said, "Those things eat people!"
For some reason I wasn't scared. I was in shock for about 2 seconds, then reality set in, and all I could think about was documenting this experience. I walked slowly back to where my camera was and made the boys not start yelling before I could snap a shot...
It was a thrill forsure!
was that a black bear or grizzly? Looks like a black from the photos. Saw one on my trek through Glacier NP last year. Beautiful creatures but don't want to get too close!
ReplyDeleteMatty---It was a black bear.
ReplyDeleteI was just in Montana and visited Yellowstone. I wanted to head up to Glacier but didn't get the chance. I hear Glacier is absolutely beautiful!
