snowing again

Jake took this photo of our street the last time it snowed...and from the looks of it outside the street will look the same after today. It's snowing again!

I am ready for spring. I am really ready for spring.
I am ready for green grass, leaves on trees, flowers in bloom.
I am ready for our backyard again.
I am ready to feel the warmth of the sun on my face.
I am ready to say good-bye to winter.

dirty dirty dog

Spring is -a-l-m-o-s-t- here but in the mean while our backyard is muddy. Judy stays outside most of the day and the ONLY way we let her inside is to give her a bath. She has had more baths in the last few weeks than she has had in her whole life! We have a pretty solid routine worked out by now - however, the first time we tried to get Judy in the tub she ran all over the house full of mud (as you can imagine I was totally freaking out)! So now Jake carries her...she is starting to get used to it.

And just for fun - here is the new game we play with Judy that we like to call "break!" As you can tell she has a hard time containing her excitement - she LOVES LOVES LOVES to run!

10 trees for you

Jake and I signed up for GreenDimes last week. We did the $36 plan and have already received the GreenDimes t-shirt, two compact florescent light bulbs, reusable grocery bag, and children's Earth Day book in the mail - totally worth a onetime $36. Oh yeah AND they planted 10 trees for us! Check it out!

with the wind

Living in the city means never being Alone.

We can't ever find a space that no one is in...
We can't let Judy be off leash and just let her be free and run with the wind.

Except if you go to Mankato and head to the double fenced baseball fields surrounded by trees.

I am sure she was the happiest she has ever been. I know I was.
It was amazing to see her in her element. Running, sprinting, chasing at full speed. She just let herself go.

I felt myself let go.
It was just so open. And wide. And freeing.

No one was around.
No one was coming.

caked dry

Is spring here or what???

The snow is melting and the backyard is full of mud.

Judy is a total mess when she comes in from outside - mud is actually caked dry on her nose from digging up our yard.

I can't wait for the yard to be dry and the grass to be green!

wedding update 3

Less than four months left.
To plan, prepare, and procrastinate!

We have the date, place, menu and drinks (almost all) figured out. The menu is fabulous and the cake is going to be delicious.

We have picked a color! And this dress in Navy for Katie and Cassie! Jake, Ben and Peter's attire is figured out as well. Very casual but classy.

Our invitation design has a theme and we are just waiting on some botanical images that we ordered online! We are thinking about using Gocco to make them.

Flower meeting next Friday. Photographer is in the works.

I have three wedding showers scheduled and I am looking forward to all of them.

We have registerd at amazon.com and Macy's.

There are some very important things that still need to be decided (and paid for!) but I think we are doing pretty well. I am not waking up in a cold sweat at night worried about anything (just yet!).

On her desk sits a white 1 by 2 inch piece of paper with a little rose sticker. It reads - Be kind, for whoever you meet is already engaged in a great battle. On the back written in delicate pencil Attributed to Philo of Alexandria

I say to her, That is lovely.

She says, Oh yes. That is my last one. You take it, I'll remember it.

This little piece of paper just might be tucked in my wallet for the rest of my life.
