community supported

I was in Northfield Minnesota today spending the day with my friend Amanda. She is involved with an organic Community Supported Farm; they harvest every Monday and Thursday and bring the shares into town.

I helped this afternoon and it was amazing! The process, the art, and the outcome of this food is beautiful. So much time and labor is put into growing and farming the land.

The concept of a Community Supported Farm is wonderful and something I believe in strongly. In the future I hope to be a part of something like the farm I visited today.

All of the food in the photographs (plus much more) I got to bring home with me! Yummy!

Onions.

Beets.

Squash.

Broccoli.

Potatoes.

mmm, organic food. I love knowing my fruit and veggies aren't doused in chemicals.

I would like to be a part of a farm like this too, it sounds so rewarding! How nice that you got to have a good time with your friend and got veggies out the deal too!

I have a friend who lives on an organic farm, but it's organically grown meat, and hence, not always as peaceful.

Shakabuku---It really was heaven there...so calm, green, and fresh.

Cheryl---Me too! I also love that it really is fresh...I mean, it was just pulled out of the ground!!! (not in a truck driven 2000 miles--ha!)

Mindi---Northfield rocks! It is great town.

Christa and Kiki---I am going to look for CSF (community supported farm) in Iowa, they forsure have to have one! ha!

Anne---Oh wow, that is great too. But yes I am sure not as calm. Maybe a little more smelly?!

Meg D. and Darling---Thanks! It was a fabulous day.

I read this entry a few days ago, but didn't have the time to comment then. I always love your pics, but these are THE. Best. Seriously. I love the dirt still on the produce. And what a fulfilling endeavor to undertake!

Hope your weekend was awesome!
